The Hospital:A spacious and modern, well-equipped referral facility providing a comprehensive range of services including acute medical and surgical, obstetrics, paediatrics, and a range of diagnostic and allied health services. Medical services include respiratory, cardiac, chemotherapy, renal, and palliative care. Surgical services include general, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, and ophthalmology. The hospital has a busy Emergency Department, a Level 3 Close Observation Unit, a mental health unit, and a renal dialysis unit, all supported by local specialist physicians and several general practitioners.
The Location:Known for its beautiful tree-lined streets and magnificent autumn colours, it sits high on the beautiful Northern Tablelands. Located between Sydney and Brisbane, it is an easy commute to these major cities. The region offers diversity in outdoor activities; visit the nearby breathtaking World Heritage listed National Parks which boast spectacular gorges and waterfalls. It is an educational centre with an excellent university and public and private schools each providing education comparable to any capital city in Australia. The Role:Our client is seeking a Career Medical Officer to join their General Medicine team in 2022. Led by the Director, the Medicine department is staffed by CMOs. The primary purpose of the CMO in General Medicine is to admit new medical patients through the Emergency Department, attend urgent clinical reviews and MET calls across the hospital, and provide medical support and supervision to the ward resident overnight. This position will exclusively cover the night admitting shifts. Career Medical Officers undertaking the care of medical patients should ensure that they operate within their own level of expertise within a collaborative clinical care model and seek consultation with the treating physician when appropriate.
The Requirements:Either hold or be eligible for registration with AHPRA with at least three years post-graduate experience, of which some should be in General Medicine.
