DroneShield (ASX:DRO) offers an opportunity to solve some of world's most challenging technical problems in the Electronic Warfare, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, RF sensing, Sensor Fusion and distributed systems.
Working with high profile customers across militaries, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure, law enforcement and many others.
With an approximately $1bn market capitalisation and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage.
This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney.
There are approximately 160 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026.
Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.
About the role The company is seeking an AI Software Engineering Manager with relevant experience to join the development team in Sydney.
The role is primarily focused on the development of DroneShield's RF detect and defeat ML-AI capabilities.
It represents an exceptional opportunity for a result-driven individual in a new niche but exploding market.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Lead the ML-AI team to deliver solutions against business requirements Manage a team of highly capable individuals operating in the Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence domain Assist in the planning and tracking of the team's deliverables Liase with a diverse range of stakeholders during the Research and Development of state-of-the-art algorithms (Hardware, Software, FPGA) Coordinate engineering resources during the productisation of algorithmic software Qualifications, Experience and Skills Experience leading a team of Engineers in a Software Development environment (+5 years) Ability to translate business requirements and objectives between the engineering and executive teams Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, communicating effectively with engineers from non-software/ data science backgrounds Track record for delivering commercial solutions through the entire life cycle Desirable BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience Electronic Warfare (EW) experience is highly valued Who you are You are comfortable leading teams of people You enjoy mentoring others to adopt industry standard practices You are a lifelong learner.
