Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven's major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

What you'll be doing
Provisional Fellow of Upper GI and General Surgery will work with three Upper GI surgeons to provide tertiary level Upper GI district wide services including pancreatic, hepatic and oesophagogastric resections for cancer.Responsible for the provision of independent and effective medical care of surgical patients under the supervision of specialist staff,the UGI Provisional Fellow will undertake emergency surgery and inpatient and outpatient surgical consultations including those in the Emergency Department.

Successful applicants to the role must provide certified documentation of vaccination history and pathology as part of their recruitment documentation. The applicant must be certified as compliant with Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases (nsw.gov.au) before employmentcan commence.

Criminal record checks will be undertaken on successful applicants. This position is designated as child-related employment and you will be required to obtain a Working With Children clearance from the Office of the Children's Guardian. To apply, please go to MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Minimum five years post graduate experience with previous experience in General Surgery. Applicants are required to have obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) before they can be considered for appointment Sufficient skills, knowledge and experience to practice as a safe and competent senior registrar Teamwork and leadership skills Excellent time management and organisational skills Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills Experience in teaching both undergraduate & postgraduate students Need more information?
