Downer has an excellent opportunity for a Group Safety Audit Manager with experience managing and leading end-to-end health safety and wellbeing audits, and a commitment to delivering high quality, value add Work Health & Safety internal audit and assurance activities.
About Your Role:
Downer's Group Internal Audit & Assurance team represent Downer's 3rd Line of Defence and are responsible for providing independent assurance on the control environment, processes, compliance and governance across Downer.
Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit and Assurance, the role will lead and manage WHS assurance activities across the Downer Group for the Zero Harm Committee of the Downer Board.
In this pivotal role, you'll have the opportunity to apply your leadership skills and deep knowledge of health safety and wellbeing obligations and risk management to represent the Group Internal Audit and Assurance team and manage WHS internal audit and assurance activities from scoping, execution, reporting and management action closure.
This role can be based in Australia or New Zealand.
Responsibilities will include: Apply a risk-based approach and assist with the development of the annual WHS Internal Audit plan.Manage and execute the WHS Audit plan, leveraging your ability to balance priorities, risks and timing requirements.Monitor engagement progress against the WHS Audit plan and provide regular status reports.Lead Audit activities from scoping to execution, including managing the scoping, fieldwork and reporting of internal audit reviews, oversee and monitor the engagement progress and oversee and assist other internal auditors (where applicable).Prepare effective reports and presentations of the audit results for delivery to Business Units, Head of Internal Audit & Assurance and auditees.Proactively follow up agreed audit recommendations, including following up management actions, ensuring consistent and effective actions are being applied.Manage WHS investigations, including scope preparation, performing investigations and preparing investigation reports (where required).Act as an SME to team members and the business, applying your skills as a coach, mentor and facilitator to build collaborative relationships and maintain regular communication with key stakeholders.About You: Relevant tertiary qualifications in health and safety, risk management, or similar, or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience.Extensive experience managing and leading end-to-end health safety and wellbeing audits from planning through to execution and reporting.Experience or knowledge of sustainability management and reporting preferrable.Demonstrated experience in developing, analysing and presenting Health, Safety and Wellbeing metrics, data analytics and reporting to senior management and executives.Demonstrated ability to act as a coach, mentor and facilitator including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, though all organisational level.Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a highly complex and high-volume work setting, and within specific timeframes.Proven ability to lead the organisation's compliance with work health, safety and well-being obligations under relevant Acts, Regulations, Authorities, Policies as well as industry Codes of Practice and project-specific requirements.Highly developed and effective written and oral communication skills, including negotiation, decision making, coaching and influencing skills, and an ability to prepare detailed correspondence and reports to all stakeholders, including Directors of the Zero Harm Committee, managers or executives.Why You'll Love Working With Us: Work with an ASX listed company, working with market leaders.Grow your career with us, we are passionate about giving our people opportunities to grow through personal and professional development and continuous learning.Professional development programs.Access to professional memberships and industry networks.Be part of a team that cares, we foster a work environment built on support that is flexible around our employee's wellbeing needs.Flexible work arrangements.Parental leave.Employee Assistance Program.Programs promoting diversity and inclusion.A range of Corporate Benefits, including discounted services (car hires, hotels, insurance, retail stores, gyms) and salary sacrifice superannuation.At Downer, our approach to diversity is what sets us apart.
