The Opportunity - Lawyer, CustomerX We have an exciting opportunity for a commercial lawyer with a desire to support digital businesses and customer experience in CustomerX.
CustomerX is a Woolworths Group-wide platform that brings all our customer-facing functions together in one place, including digital, customer insights, brand & marketing, media, Customer Hub and loyalty.
The role is a 12-month contract role, based in our Surry Hills, Sydney office.
Flexible working arrangements are available (including the possibility of Melbourne or Brisbane based office location for the right candidate).
Our team values in-person team time, as well as flexibility (including regular working from home arrangements and working from other offices including the Group's Bella Vista head office).
As a member of our legal team within the Legal, Industry & Government function, you'll have opportunities to work collaboratively with and learn from other lawyers, Government and Industry professionals and external legal partners, to support and partner with the business to achieve its strategic priorities by sharing your knowledge and insights and managing a range of matters.
What you'll do In this role, you will provide day-to-day strategic and commercial legal advice to Woolworths Group with a focus on our stand-alone retail media business, Cartology.
This role will also be responsible for providing advice to, and working closely with, the Woolworths Group's Privacy and Customer Trust team on privacy and data protection matters for the broader Woolworths Group (not limited to media/Cartology).
Specifically, you will need to:
Provide practical and commercial advice to stakeholders across Cartology on all aspects of retail media, including contracting (both procurement and sales), terms and conditions, marketing law, regulatory matters and general commercial law;Provide pragmatic day-to-day advice to our Marketing and Sales teams on legal risks in marketing assets;Independently negotiate contracts with suppliers and clients;Work in collaboration with our other legal colleagues across the Woolworths Group to provide seamless legal advice including opportunities to assist on digital, data, spam and privacy matters;Provide guidance on business activities in relation to privacy and data protection;Understand our client's business activities with a view to providing proactive legal support and advice;Partner with our brand, marketing, sales and privacy teams to support key commercial decisions.About you In-house legal experience, ideally with exposure to media, data, privacy and adtech (and an interest in these areas is essential).A desire to work and ability to perform in a fast-paced, hands-on and rapidly changing environment.Flexibility, with a proactive can-do approach and ability to work as part of a team across different business units and locations.Excellent interpersonal skills, with the capacity to deal confidently with stakeholders at all levels.Excellent legal and commercial judgement and problem-solving skills.What you'll experience A very collaborative team environmentStrong mentorship and developmentThe ability to collaborate with some of the brightest and best minds in AustraliaHybrid working arrangements depending on your home locationGet your Woolies worth through team member benefits across all of our brandsEveryone belongs at Woolworths Group Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are key to realising our purpose of better together for a better tomorrow.
