The DepartmentThe Alfred Cancer Program is responsible for the overall delivery of a comprehensive cancer service which involves a number of clinical areas and units including; Medical Oncology, Clinical Haematology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Apheresis, State-wide Haemophilia Service, Radiation Oncology, Clinical Trials, Palliative Care, and the Victorian Melanoma Service.
The Alfred Health Clinical Haematology service offers a multidisciplinary setting for the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of the entire range of haematological diseases.
The RoleAlfred Cancer is seeking Administrative Patient Navigators who are an integral part of the haematology multi-disciplinary team, playing an important role in providing the first line response to incoming calls from patients, carers, and referrers in the community.
They are experts in supporting patient flow through the cancer care system and in facilitating timely patient access.
Patient Navigators provide administrative support for multidisciplinary team meetings as well as ensuring patient appointments are scheduled and billed appropriately.
This role is a direct support to both Clinical Nurse Consultants and Nurse Practitioners working within Haematology.
Skills/ExperiencePersonable, customer-focused approach, and commitment to high-quality servicePrevious health service administration experience including Health IT systems i.e.
EMR, iPMExcellent communication skills with an ability to interact and deal with a large professional teamDemonstrated high level time management and interpersonal skillsMotivated and enthusiastic with a positive attitude toward work and colleaguesProficient in Microsoft Office Word for Windows, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPointSound administrative and organisational skills as well as experience in handling day-to-day accounts and reportingFlexibility to attend to a variety of administrative dutiesUnderstanding of confidentiality and privacy legislationDemonstrated ability to plan workflows, prioritise, and delegate in order to meet deadlinesUnderstanding of VINAH data collectionFor further inquiries regarding the role contact: Ellen Heywood (Ambulatory Cancer Services Manager) or
