Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state's energy system.
We will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland's clean energy future. Queensland Hydro will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.
Purpose
The Senior Project Engineer plays a pivotal role in supporting the successful delivery of the geotechnical investigation works for the Borumba PHES project, with direct involvement in project planning and on-site execution.
About the Role
This position is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of the project, including the development, implementation, and management of project cost, schedule, safety, and technical documentation. The Senior Project Engineer will collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and drive project success.
In addition to leading efforts in scoping, planning, scheduling, and monitoring work performance, they will champion safety and quality programs, conduct on-site inspections, and provide procurement and administrative support.

About you
You will hold a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a specialization in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, or a background in Engineering Geology, Geology, or Earth Sciences. You will have at least 5 years of post-graduate experience as a Project Engineer, with strong proficiency in scheduling, preferably using Primavera P6, and a solid command of Microsoft Excel.
You should possess a good understanding of relevant Codes, Australian Standards, and WHS Act and Regulations. Strong technical report writing skills, clear verbal communication, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team are essential. Additionally, you should have an awareness of health and safety, as well as commercial and contractual risks.
Desirable qualifications include 10 years of experience as a Senior or Project Engineer, experience in delivering geotechnical site investigations, managing contractors or teams, handling large data sets (including GIS, Leapfrog, or Vulcan), and pursuing or holding PMP or similar project management certification.
