This position is full time; however, part time/job share arrangements may also be considered.
What you'll be doing The Clinical Psychologist is a key member of the multidisciplinary team working in the inpatient gazetted mental health unit (Saunders Unit) at Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick.

The Clinical Psychologist is responsible for providing comprehensive psychological evaluation of the young person to facilitate diagnosis prior to treatment planning.
Diagnostic evaluation may include assessment of intellectual and academic functioning.

Treatment planning will be a joint task with other mental health team members.
This includes initial management plan to assist in reducing the young persons distress, facilitating the assessment process and formulating a treatment plan.

Clinical interventions will include CBT, DBT and other evidence-based interventions relevant to the needs of the individual adolescent.
Interventions will include group programmes, family assessment and other therapeutic interventions depending on needs and available resources.The multi-disciplinary treatment plan should ensure that the inpatient admission is effective and efficient and that there is an adequate comprehensive treatment plan which includes local services and private practitioners following discharge. The Clinical Psychologist will also have responsibility for case management.
The Case Manager ensures that the assessment and treatment program is implemented as formulated.
The Case Manager is responsible for overseeing the discharge process and ensuring along with the Psychiatry Registrar that a discharge report is forwarded to the young person's General Practitioner and local mental health service. Clinical service orientated research will be encouraged and active participation of the Clinical Psychologist within this endeavour will be a responsibility. Additional responsibilities may include educational input and consultation to other medical teams within the Sydney Children's Hospital Child and Adolescent Mental Health service.

Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Full endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia in the area of Clinical Psychologist or eligible to progress to same.
Minimum 2 year full time equivalent accredited postgraduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.
Experience in assessment and management of complex mental health disorders Experience providing clinical assessment and treatment services in a multi-disciplinary child and adolescent mental health service, including provision of CBT, DBT and other evidence-based psychotherapies Demonstrated high level time management and prioritisation skills, including case management or coordination experience Experience working with families in a mental health setting, preferably with family therapy training Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills Applicants currently enrolled in a combined Masters/PhD are eligible to apply if they have completed the equivalent of Masters degree requirements as part of the PhD pathway.
Evidence of this is demonstrated by a completed PDEC-76 form and cover letter from the University confirming Masters degree requirements have been met.

Applicants are eligible to apply if they have completed an accredited Masters degree and are awaiting their graduation ceremony.
Written confirmation from the University is required.

Successful applicants who have completed the Masters degree or Masters degree requirements and are awaiting full registration from the Psychology Board of Australia will be paid at Year 2 of the Psychologist Scale until they have full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, at which point they will commence on Year 1 of the Clinical Psychologist scale.
