How will I help?
This role exists to provide 2nd line risk oversight and insight over business activities in the GTS Value Chain to ensure the appropriate risk identification, documentation, and management of risks by the business.
This will be in accordance with the Operational Risk Management Framework and other policies under the Risk Management Framework.
The scope of the role focuses specifically on operational risks arising through business activity, including product development and transformation initiatives.
Through delivery of the above, successful candidates will continuously gain WIB GTS business knowledge through the analysis, oversight and insight of risks arising through business strategies, products, processes as they are delivered through existing delivery and governance mechanisms.
Core Responsibilities:
To work with and support Executive Manager GTS, WIB Risk to provide the business with specialist, outcome-focused risk and control oversight and insight that ensures complete and accurate risk and issue capture, optimises risk-reward balance and contributes to the attainment of business strategy and objectives.To provide independent Line 2 advice and oversight of the effectiveness of the business' operational risk management practices.To lead thematic analysis across risks, providing specialist guidance from these reviews.To provide the business with insights into emerging risks arising from potential changes in business strategy, thematic reviews of internal events, key external learnings, or changes in inherent risk environment.To challenge and oversight business transformation initiatives, whether product or project driven, to ensure that risks arising through change are adequately controlled.
What do I need?5+ years of operational risk experience within Westpac, in any WIB business, Group Operations or Group Treasury role; or7+ years of operational risk experience with Investment Banking, Asset Management or Back-office Operations exposure from another financial institution.Demonstrable knowledge and experience of investment banking activity and associated front to back processes.Demonstrable experience of influencing business stakeholders, strategic thinking, and prioritisation.Relevant industry qualifications desired.Change execution risk and project transformation experience desirable.
