Position: DS Executive | Data & Economic Analysis Centre | Data Science | Machine Learning EngineeringThe Data and Economic Analysis Centre (DEAC) is a young and dynamic division within the Department of Home Affairs.
Data is our business.
We work alongside our colleagues in the department to analyze, transform, and use data to deliver better outcomes for the Australian public.
We are dedicated to innovation and transformation, using data science, automation, and artificial intelligence to achieve faster and more effective solutions.
Minimum Requirements7+ years' experience managing and delivering complex and technical projects preferably within the data science space.5+ years' experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.At least five years' experience leading project delivery, ideally within a data, IT, or analytics domain.Strong understanding of data science principles and methodologies.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProject Management: Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Develop and maintain project plans, roadmaps, and sprint backlogs.
Track project progress and ensure timely completion within budget constraints.
Identify and mitigate risks, bottlenecks, and dependencies.Agile Delivery: Implement and promote agile methodologies within the team.
Collaborate with the AI Product Manager to set delivery targets and lead project sprints.
Ensure that projects are delivered within agreed scope, budget, and timeframes.People Management: Manage and mentor a team of data scientists.
Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement and professional growth.Stakeholder Engagement: Engage and collaborate with a range of stakeholders across the organization to understand their challenges and data landscape.
Identify project opportunities and ensure technical delivery aligns with business outcomes.Documentation and Communication: Develop and maintain project and product documentation.
