Be part of a team with the expertise and drive to succeed Based in Melbourne, the Senior Software Engineer provides a crucial role in the delivery and support of the applications that run our business.
This important position focuses on ensuring the security and efficiency of our company's infrastructure, driving innovation, and contributing to achieving strategic business goals.
Within the Energy Solutions squad, the Senior Engineer will predominantly support our growing interests in the Demand Flexibility space, including configuring new sites for 'Flex Optimisation' and ensuring payments for events are made to our customers in a timely and accurate manner (generally on a monthly or quarterly cadence).
As a Senior Engineer, you will be expected to bring a value-based mindset to the challenges of these relatively new products and markets; to bring innovation and critical thinking to decisions on how best to achieve outcomes in a timely fashion and ensure business continuity by supporting and maintaining what you build.
Our software applications in the Energy Solutions space are predominantly hosted in our AWS Cloud and developed using Python, React, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Dagster.
Experience in these technologies will put you in good stead to excel in this team.
This role is a great step forward from Engineer to Senior Engineer.
You'll move from implementing solutions to actively shaping the design process, allowing you to identify challenges and propose creative solutions.
You'll work with various programming languages, enhancing your skills and broadening your perspective beyond software development.
This position will also deepen your understanding of business value drivers, empowering you to make impactful decisions that align with organizational goals.
With honesty, integrity and respect, you will: Assist with daily operations of applications, ensuring security, performance, and quick triage of incidents to prioritize effectively;Leverage your understanding of business goals to guide application prioritization and development, ensuring decisions maximize impact and deliver;Collaborate on designing and implementing compliant engineering solutions, providing clear documentation to support development teams;Ensure high software quality through thorough testing, user reviews, and validation processes, while managing security audits and disaster recovery plans;Mentor team members and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions, promoting professional growth and fostering a culture of innovation and process improvement.What you'll bring: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
Adept at troubleshooting hardware and software problems, identifying root causes and implementing practical solutions to minimise downtime and disruptions;Effective communication is essential to collaborate with cross-functional teams, convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and articulate solutions to complex problems;Proficient verbal and written communication skills are essential for successful project management, team leadership and stakeholder engagement;An ability to understand Shell Energy's strategic goals, objectives and industry landscape.
