About the Role: As the Director of Engineering, you will lead and inspire the engineering teams, shaping their technology vision and driving innovation.
You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring that the platform is not only stable and high-performing but also adaptable to the evolving needs of the business, customer, and the industry they'll operate in.
Working closely with other Directors of Engineering, Directors of Product, and the Director of Design, you'll ensure alignment between the technology and business strategies.
Please note due to an increased focus on collaboration and building new products and services, this role will require you to be in the office 5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Team Leadership: Manage and inspire a team of 50+ senior engineering managers and exceptional engineers, fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture.Attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent, while mentoring the team on best practices and company values.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Directors of Product, Design, and other Engineering Directors to ensure a cohesive strategy and seamless execution.Facilitate communication and alignment across departments, ensuring efficient delivery of projects.Technology Stack: Oversee and optimize our full-stack JavaScript environment, including Node.js, React, and other modern frameworks.Ensure our JavaScript-based systems are scalable, maintainable, and capable of supporting both front-end and back-end requirements.Platform Stability and Performance: Ensure the stability, performance, and scalability of our platform, with a focus on website speed and mobile app responsiveness.Champion best practices for continuous improvement and operational excellence.Engineering Velocity and Efficiency: Optimize engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to drive velocity and efficiency.Monitor and refine engineering workflows to maximize productivity and deliver high-quality results.Quality of Deliverables: Maintain high standards for code quality, system reliability, and overall performance.Implement robust testing and quality assurance practices to ensure deliverables exceed customer expectations.Trusted Advisor: Serve as a trusted advisor to the CPTO and the executive team, providing insights and recommendations on engineering matters.Support strategic decision-making and long-term planning with a focus on innovation and scalability.About You: Customer Focus: Build strong relationships with customers and deliver customer-centric solutions.Action-Oriented: Approach new opportunities with urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.Effective Communication: Develop clear communications tailored to diverse audiences.Collaborative Mindset: Build partnerships and work effectively with others to achieve shared goals.Accountability: Hold yourself and others accountable for meeting commitments.Executive Leadership Specific Competencies: Drives Vision & Purpose: Articulate a compelling vision that inspires action.Strategic Mindset: Anticipate future possibilities and translate them into breakthrough strategies.Work Arrangement: This role requires you to be in the office 5 days a week, fostering strong collaboration and ensuring close alignment with the team and stakeholders.
