St Joseph's Nudgee College (Est.
1891) is a Catholic Boys' Day and Boarding school in the Edmund Rice tradition for Years 5-12, with a student population of 1730, including 315 Boarders.
The College is a member of the GPS Association and focuses upon providing a balanced holistic education.
College staff are invited to participate in the College's extensive cultural, social justice and sport programs.
Role
The College is seeking a Head of Faculty - Humanities, to lead and manage our Humanities faculty.
The HOF roles are a contract position of 4 years with the option of an additional 4 years, underpinned by an ongoing teaching position.
While this role commences on 20 January 2025, the initial contract period concludes on 22 January 2027.
This is to be in line with the other HOF roles.
The next contract period would then be from January 2027 to January 2031.
The Head of Faculty - Humanities is responsible for the effective leadership and management of the Faculty Team in the area of curriculum and learning and teaching.
As the leader of the Faculty Team, the Head of Faculty has the responsibility for the development and articulation of the faculty philosophy and vision, efficient faculty operation and team leadership.
The Head of Faculty provides guidance and support to subject co-ordinators in the fulfillment of their roles and to teachers within their faculty to develop their teaching skills.
The Head of Faculty carries the primary responsibility for ongoing development and supervision of the curriculum and the quality of learning and teaching that is provided to each student.
To be considered for this role, you will need: Educational vision for the subject and experience in leading colleagues in collaborative teams.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching, integrating contemporary pedagogical and curriculum theory.
Substantial knowledge of and experience in curriculum initiatives and current trends in this subject area and a proven ability to initiate change, as required, aligning with school-wide strategic directions.
Highly developed planning and communication skills.
Experience and skills in maintaining quality of education, promoting excellence and implementing ICT skills as a signature of a teaching team.
Demonstrated commitment to goals and aims of Catholic education in the Edmund Rice tradition and the vision of Edmund Rice Education, particularly as to how it is applied to curriculum and learning on a daily basis in the school community.
