Abra Mining Pty Limited (Administrator's Appointed) is seeking a Senior Mine Geologist to bolster the team for a full-time position with the company based at our Abra Mine.
Abra is located approximately 220km north of Meekatharra, in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The mine represents one of the world's cleanest and largest standalone lead-silver projects capable of producing "Metal in concentrate" of between 90 – 100ktpa lead and 600 – 800kozs silver per year.
The Abra Mineral Resource geologically consists of multiple mineralised zones predominately consisting of an upper over-laying sediment-bound Apron zone that sits above an underlying hydrothermal feeder system called the Core zone.
The most recent LOM plan (1.5Mtpa) based on the MRE2023, grade control model updates and ore mined to date contains 16.3Mt @ 6.9% Pb indicating a mine life of 10+ years.
The Abra Mine construction and commissioning was completed in late 2022 and production ramp up took place during 2023, the mine has now reached steady state production volumes.
The underground ore mined is processed through a conventional processing plant, to produce a high-grade lead-silver concentrate that is exported via the Geraldton Port.
THE ROLE
This is an exciting time to join Abra as this is a unique deposit style in a new and under explored mining district in Western Australia.
Reporting to the Mine Geologist Superintendent, as a Senior Mine Geologist, you will be responsible for the planning and supervision of the grade control function, geological modelling of the deposit and mine geology personnel on site.
Whilst ensuring that all geological activities are carried out to the highest standard of safety, you will also:
Provide and validate sectional interpretation of grade control data and produce validated polygon and wireframe models.Produce grade control block models including reconciliation feedback.Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports on grade control drilling, ore reconciliation, mine geology and grade drivers.ABOUT YOU
You will be an underground mine geologist with experience in a senior capacity. Current and past colleagues would describe you as a team-oriented member who is approachable and willing to share their expertise with the wider team.
Your leadership style will be motivational and you are passionate about coaching your geology team to perform at their optimal level. To complement this, you will have:
Bachelor of Science degree in Geology.5+ years' experience within the resources sector.Current WA C Class driver's license.Demonstrated experience in mining processes in an underground environment.Strong knowledge in data management and validation processes.Previous exposure in base metal mining desirable.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Attention to detail and ability to ensure completion of the assigned tasks.An outcome-focused attitude with well-developed self-management skills.The ability to meet established timeframes and solve daily problems that arise.Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with coaching new and existing employees.ABRA LIFE FIFO 8:6 roster ex Perth direct to site or DIDO ex Meekatharra and surrounds.New camp, with sports court and a fully equipped gym.Each camp room has its own ensuite.Work alongside a collaborative inclusive team.EAP support provided.Stability with a projected 10+ year mine life.HOW TO APPLY
