We're seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Employee Relations Manager to support our mission of building a skilled, safe, and sustainable workforce.
This role offers a unique opportunity for a motivated professional to make a significant impact within a small team and a dynamic industry.
Role Overview
The Employee Relations Manager will provide essential expertise, support, and leadership on employee relations matters for BusNSW members.
Working closely with bus and coach operators and government stakeholders, you will play a key role in shaping industry practices, supporting workforce development, and enhancing member engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Expert Guidance : Offer expert, practical advice to members on employee relations, including issues related to service contracts, operator accreditation, industry awards and enterprise agreements.
Member Support : Respond to member inquiries, assist with HR and workplace matters, and support Enterprise Agreement negotiations.
Resource Development : Create valuable resources, such as fact sheets, articles for the association's monthly magazine, and website content, to keep members informed and equipped for success.
Committee Leadership : Provide secretarial and coordination support for key committees, such as Employment and Training, advocating on action items and promoting member interests.
Stakeholder Representation : Represent BusNSW in discussions with government agencies and stakeholders, actively advocating for bus and coach operators and industry suppliers.
Training and Events : Champion industry training initiatives, including the association's online training for bus drivers, and manage BusNSW's Registered Training Organisation (RTO) partnership.
Policy and Reform Development : Contribute to policy and key industry reforms, including NSW Bus Industry Taskforce recommendations focused on safety and workforce enhancement.
Project Management : Lead or support additional projects to drive industry growth and improvement, including submissions to government reviews and parliamentary inquiries.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
Proven experience in employee relations, industrial relations, or a similar role, ideally within a member-based or transport organisation.
Strong understanding of Fair Work laws and the Enterprise Agreement bargaining process.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
Collaborative mindset with a proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including members, government, and industry partners.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
