About the Role We are currently looking for a First Nations champion to join our team in the role of Senior Advisor, First Nations Participation.
Based out of either our Sydney or Melbourne office, and reporting to the Group Manager Social Impact, you will work together with business units and projects (rail, transport, building, infrastructure, energy) and other key internal and external stakeholders to bring our purpose of Transforming Lives to life by contributing to social, economic and cultural growth of John Holland and the industry, and creating a positive legacy in the communities in which we operate.
This role is targeted for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons, in accordance with John Holland's current exemption granted under section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) and as a special measure for the purposes of promoting or realising substantive equality for First Nations persons (VIC).
Key Accountabilities: Work in partnership with the RAP Advisory & Action Committee to plan, facilitate, implement, monitor, measure and evaluate RAP deliverables, including collaboration across the business and engagement with external bodies to support the implementation of RAP commitments.Work in partnership with key business stakeholders to assist to develop and embed supply chain diversity through facilitation of relationships with First Nations businesses, suppliers, social enterprises, and management of corporate memberships.Influence and support internally to increase engagement and spend with First Nations businesses and social enterprises, and provision of employment and development opportunities for First Nations Peoples.Support the business to develop, implement and maintain social procurement and inclusion strategies and processes.Provide strategic support to business units and other key stakeholders in the tender and delivery of First Nations engagement and participation requirements.Contribute to the development and delivery of cultural engagement, cultural learning plans and resources across the business.Provide advice and support to increase business understanding of First Nations affairs and cultural competency.Support the coordination of events and celebrations of cultural significance to First Nations Peoples including NAIDOC Week and National Reconciliation Week.Coach partners and team members to build capacity in managing engagement with First Nations stakeholders and communities.About You You will have previously worked in a similar position and gained significant experience in First Nations participation within an industry context.
Your extensive experience in First Nations employment, development and community engagement, as well as in social procurement, will see you succeed in this role.Exceptional relationship building, influencing and communication skills and an ability to work independently within a dynamic and fast paced environment is essential.Knowledge of current government policies and requirements in the construction industry and tender process is highly desirable.What's in it for you We're about connecting your sense of purpose to ours.
