Our client, a well-established international manufacturing company, is seeking a TMS Design Engineer to join their team
Role: TMS Design Engineer (Train Management System) Project: Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (multibillion project)
Location: Brisbane
Duration: Permanent / Contract (will be discussed during interview)
Job Purpose:
Provide technical support to the Project Engineer, Korean Subject Matter Experts (SME), and Local Engineering Team in developing the TMS systems design and submission of design packages to the customer and other stakeholders as per project design delivery schedule. Ensure that the technical requirements for each design milestone are clearly understood to identify and prioritize design deliverables, verification activities, and assure full compliance. Establish clear lines of communication and promote regular exchanges with the Korean SME, engineering team, customer representatives, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and expedite necessary design deliverables for project progression in line with the delivery schedule. Key Responsibilities:
Detail analysis of the technical specifications, standards, and stakeholder requirements at each project stage to assure that the design meets compliance obligations. Maintain clear and regular communication with the Korean SME regarding design progress, technical inquiries, and issues. Manage an accurate software database for TMS and other subsystems software versions and issues. Review and endorse with SME the allocated TMS subsystem: Suppliers' design documentation and its compliance with specifications and related standards. Design including: integration at train level, interfaces, human factors inputs, engineering calculations, drawings, schematics, technical reports, software, and other documentation. Design interfaces with other train subsystems, network, and shore base facilities. Technical requirements matrix compliance with specifications and related standards. Design and engineering evidence for verification and validation activities. Software SIL Levels and Certifications for TMS and other subsystems. Proposed test methods, instructions, and reports. Manufacturability and maintainability requirements integration. Reliability and safety reports and calculations to assure allocated targets are met. Preparation and check of software interfaces between TMS and other subsystems. Preparation of technical reports to support evidence of compliance with technical and safety requirements. Development and submission of the allocated TMS subsystems design packages at each project stage. Preparation of technical presentations to customers and external stakeholders. Support the development of safety cases, human factors analysis, and train operational model. Preparation of test, maintenance, and operations instructions, reports, procedures, and manuals. Preparation of instructions for operation of the TMS subsystems. Support the development and manage interfaces with the Simulator, Software Lab, and Software Integration Facility. Requirements:
Tertiary University Qualifications in Bachelor of Electrical, ICT, Software, or Mechatronics Engineering. Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia and Queensland Board of Engineers registered RPEQ. Experience in rolling stock TMS systems design, manufacturing, installation, reliability, or maintenance. Understanding of rolling stock TMS subsystems design process and submission requirements. Understanding of functional and logical programming, and cybersecurity requirements. Familiarity with Australian and International Rolling Stock TMS Engineering Standards and Legislation. Familiarity with software certification process based on international standards. Ability to develop and review TMS functional and operational diagrams and schematics. Ability to work on project design schedule and produce design progress reports. High level of written and verbal communication skills, being fluent in English.
