This role involves providing evidence-based strategic policy advice, leading and coordinating policy development, implementation, and reporting of whole-of-government projects that contribute towards Queensland's domestic, family and sexual violence reform agenda.

Until 31 / 12 / 25 & 11 / 9 / 2025 with possible extensionPrincipal Policy Officer Key Responsibilities:Prepare a range of high-level written materials including cabinet submissions, executive correspondence, briefing material, speech notes, and information papers concerned with the strategies and initiatives delivered by the business unit.Provide strategic analysis and advice on complex policy, program, and legislative issues.Provide leadership, coordination, and implementation of relevant actions to deliver on the Queensland Government's response to the Women's Safety and Justice Taskforce reports.Ensure a high level of consultation occurs to assist in the development and implementation of whole-of-government policy, budget, and reporting frameworks for departmental strategies.Support the development of national policies and strategies, and drive Queensland's policy positions through intergovernmental mechanisms.Develop and maintain effective linkages with staff and other departmental stakeholders to ensure the needs and issues identified are appropriately reflected in policy and programs.Technical Skills, Abilities and Cultural Capability:Establish and maintain productive working relationships with co-workers, other Queensland Government agencies, Commonwealth, and other State and Territory Governments.Manage workload independently and complete work within established timeframes, adjusting priorities as circumstances dictate.Work as part of a team, collaborate with colleagues, and foster a stimulating learning environment.Write concise material including executive correspondence, briefing material, and meeting papers.Negotiate or exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to inform the development of policies and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, and solutions.Support and promote the interests of First Nations people and actively engage for better outcomes for First Nations peoples.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Further Information:We are committed to building inclusive cultures in the Queensland public sector that respect and promote human rights and diversity.
