Welcome to Ngaanyatjarra Lands, a vibrant tapestry of culture and community nestled within the vast beauty of the Australian desert.
Home to approximately 2000 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres.
Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia.
Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services.
It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.

The Opportunity:
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to join the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group within a specialist Nursing Role as a Female Sexual Health Nurse, Child Health Nurse or a Remote Area Midwife with a variety of contracts including permanent and relief roles.
Working in the heart of the Ngaanyatjarra Lands in WA, you will be at the forefront of delivering specialist health services across 11 remote communities.
As a Child Health Nurse, you will work to improve the health and growth of children residing in Ngaanyatjarra Lands, working alongside visiting experts and other child and family services to provide exceptional care and assistance to children.
As a Female Sexual Health Nurse, you will provide clinical expertise and coordination in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive Sexual Health program for our health service.
This is a female-identified position that will work in partnership with internal and external partners/stakeholders.
As a Midwife, you will provide high-quality, best practice maternal and child health services to women, their children and families living on the Ngaanyatjarra Lands, with the aim to improve maternal, child and women's health outcomes.
The midwife will implement a two-way approach model which embraces traditional knowledge and practice with evidence-based scientific knowledge and practice.

About You:
You are a dedicated and experienced Midwife/Child or Female Sexual Health Nurse with a passion for working in diverse and remote settings.
With a minimum of 3 years' experience in similar environments, you bring a wealth of knowledge and a proactive approach to delivering high-quality health care.
Your current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse reflects your commitment to professional standards.
Your highly developed interpersonal and communication skills enable you to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, particularly in culturally diverse and language-rich settings.
You have a strong understanding of Aboriginal health issues and are adept at applying the principles of Primary Health Care within complex remote practice environments.
You are known for your ability to manage and promote change, your dedication to Quality Improvement and evidence-based practice, and your commitment to ongoing professional development.
Proficient in a range of information technologies, you are well-equipped to handle patient information and data management systems.
Your enthusiasm for making a meaningful impact in a vibrant and culturally significant community makes you an ideal fit for this position.
Female Sexual Health Nurse - The Successful Applicant Will Possess: Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience preferably in sexual health/BBV or other relevant health promotion/community development.Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health or equivalent.Up-to-date knowledge of STI/HIV control issues/strategies in remote communities or the capacity to acquire knowledge.Experience in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating public health programs.Commitment to Indigenous health and knowledge of key principles and literature relevant to Indigenous issues.Well-developed written and oral communication skills.Ability to communicate appropriately in a cross-cultural setting.Demonstrated skills in the use of computer software packages for work processing, spreadsheets and presentations.Ability to be self-directed, work as a member of a team and network with external agencies.Current manual driver's license and ability to travel around remote communities by four-wheel drive on dirt roads.Child Health Nurse - The Successful Applicant Will Possess: Must have a current Basic Life Support Certificate and the Postgraduate qualifications in Child Health (e.g., master's Degree in Child and Family Health) are highly desirable.Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing, implementing and evaluating evidence-based child and youth health programs in diverse cultural groups.Knowledge of current government policies, programs and best practices in child healthcare and development.Demonstrated understanding and experience of primary health care, public and preventative health and applied knowledge of health promotion and community development principles.Experience in clinical supervision and team leadership, negotiation, and conflict management.Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships across various disciplines and agencies in remote settings.An ability to interact effectively with and provide information to people from different cultural and language backgrounds.Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and contribute positively to a multidisciplinary team.Experience in data collection and analysis, including using word processing, spreadsheet and database software to produce compelling reports.Current manual driver's license and ability to travel around remote communities by four-wheel drive on dirt roads.Midwife - The Successful Applicant Will Possess: Current registration as a Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).Postgraduate qualification in Child Health, women's health or remote.Demonstrated experience in the delivery of comprehensive midwifery, child and/or women's health services.Proven ability to be self-directed and self-motivated as well as working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team with both health professionals and non-health professionals.Well-developed skills in communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving.Recent experience working in remote Aboriginal communities or similar cross-cultural settings.Demonstrated experience in provision of education and training and the ability to transfer knowledge and skills to colleagues in the multidisciplinary health team.Demonstrated understanding of primary health care, public health, community development principles.What We Offer: • Purpose-Driven Environment: Experience a work culture that prioritises purpose and provides a deep sense of fulfilment, aligning with values that matter to you.

The third week of each month, the Ngaanyatjarra Council hosts both a general meeting for all members and a Board of Directors meeting.
