About the role This position is based at Blacktown Hospital, part of the Auburn Clinical School and reports to the Head of Clinical School for School related matters and to the Head of the relevant Discipline for discipline related matters, and through them to the Deputy Head of School, School of Medicine.
It is a requirement that appointees for this position have medical accreditation and provide clinical services at Blacktown Hospital.
Key Responsibilities Promoting the school to key stakeholders involving undertaking meetings with clinical staff, organisations and agencies to inform them of the school and its mission; Taking responsibility for student placements in the discipline; Developing student timetables and rotations for students in the discipline, ensuring students participate in a range of educationally appropriate and relevant clinical activities; Conducting a weekly teaching ward round or equivalent with the students; Contributing to formative assessments, including provision of feedback on student performance; Participating in meetings, committees and functions as required; Playing a part in scholarship and research relevant to the discipline; Participating in midwifery practice to advance the practice of medicine; and other duties as directed by the Head of Clinical School.
Contribute to the institution's teaching efforts and engage in activities that maintain and develop their scholarly and professional expertise relevant to their profession or discipline.
Preparing and delivering substantial components of courses, utilizing advanced professional or discipline-related expertise in teaching, and incorporating scholarship and relevant research into teaching activities.
Contribute to the development of engaging, technology-enhanced curricula, participate in collaborative projects related to teaching practices, and provide academic counselling, mentoring, and advice to students.
Coordinate courses, manage associated resources, and provide leadership within the teaching team while actively raising the profile of the discipline within the University and broader community.
Demonstrating commitment to community engagement, they undertake activities to improve teaching practices, contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning or professional practice in their field, and enrol in programs to enhance their teaching skills.
Other duties as identified by the Line Manager / Supervisor Comply with policies and procedures in all aspects of their work and conduct.
Authority to commit resources of UNDA in line with the Operational Delegations of Authority.
