Australian British Food Holdings Pty Ltd is a market leading sausage, burger and smallgoods manufacturer with processing facilities in WA, NSW and QLD supplying the national retailers with brands such as The British Sausage Company, Peppercorn Food Company, Roccos Butchery, Tradition Smallgoods and Caves Road Farms.
The growing, national business prides itself on quality, customer service and innovation and is seeking a Senior NPD Innovation and Process Technologist.
Reporting to the NPD Manager in the innovation centre, your role is end-to-end product development from early concept to launch.
This will include:
Working from the newly built Innovation Centre which has high quality offices, a presentation kitchen and pilot plant.
Liaise directly with the retailers to develop high quality new products under both ABF and retailer brands.
Contribute to ideation NPD sessions and work within the NPD development team on new product briefs based on up-to-date market trends.
Deliver the NPD program and launch products with assistance from the marketing, sales, technical and operational teams.
Responsible for sourcing new ingredients, fit for purpose for the product design, customer and site requirements and costs.
Organise the smooth running of factory trials.
Appropriately record all NPD trials and develop a bank of launch ready products.
Conduct sensory evaluation of all trial products and report findings in a timely manner.
Complete retailer documentation and present products at their Sydney and Melbourne offices as required.
Responsible for specification management including raw materials, process, packaging and finished product specifications in both company systems and customer databases.
Participate in artwork review and art file approvals.
Drive product and process improvements.
Provide regular written updates on the NPD progress and participate in bi-annual full-day NPD strategy sessions.
You are keen to progress your career in food science with a Western Australian business that has its innovation centre here in Perth.
You bring the following to the role:
Passion for food.
Minimum 4 years' experience as an NPD technologist in food.
Meat experience preferred but not essential.
Tertiary qualifications in food science.
Experience working with the national retailers.
Strong in project management and managing project timelines.
Ability to multitask and prioritize.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Hands on approach to factory trials.
High attention to detail.
Easy to get along with, an optimist and are naturally very curious.
You enjoy solving problems and getting good outcomes.
