We are seeking a skilled ICT Security Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in overseeing and ensuring the secure and efficient operation of all IT systems and infrastructure across Australia and our international branches. The successful candidate will play a key role in integrating IT services to support our international education recruitment efforts, developing systems policies, and ensuring compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other global data protection laws.The ICT Security Specialist will report directly to the Director of Studywest Education Services.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Administration and SecurityIT Infrastructure Management: Oversee and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance across all branches.System Monitoring: Utilize tools like Microsoft Defender for system monitoring and maintenance.Security Audits: Perform regular security audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement necessary remediation measures.Vulnerability Management: Ensure all network devices, appliances, and endpoints are patched and compliant with Essential Eight cybersecurity guidelines.Technology Integration: Integrate new technologies to enhance system efficiency and security.Compliance and Auditing: Ensure IT practices comply with international standards and regulatory requirements, including GDPR.System Administration: Manage Active Directory, implement security policies using Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and handle software deployment using Microsoft Configuration Manager.Incident Monitoring and ResponseSecurity Threat Detection: Use Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools to detect, analyze, and proactively respond to security threats.Threat Hunting: Analyze logs to investigate tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) used by adversaries, utilizing frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK.Incident Response: Lead the response to security incidents, performing remediation actions to counter threats and mitigate risks.Security Framework Implementation: Apply industry frameworks such as NIST and ISO 27001 to improve incident response capabilities and enhance security posture.Technical Support and TrainingStaff Training: Provide training to staff on the proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook), HubSpot CRM, Zoom, UseCollect, and JotForm.IT Security Awareness: Conduct IT security awareness training to minimize risks and ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures.Technical Support: Offer technical support and guidance to staff, addressing IT-related issues promptly to ensure smooth operations.Collaboration and CommunicationTeam Collaboration: Work collaboratively with different divisions to implement security solutions and improve the organization's security posture.Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with business owners about vulnerabilities and security issues, facilitating understanding and implementation of solutions.Service Desk Coordination: Collaborate with the service desk team to enhance the reporting and handling of security incidents, reducing response times.Disaster Recovery and Business ContinuityPlanning and Development: Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans.Testing and Updating: Regularly test and update recovery procedures to ensure minimal downtime in case of system failures.Qualifications and ExperienceEducation: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field is highly regarded.Experience: Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate work experience in IT administration and cybersecurity roles.Experience with incident monitoring and response using SIEM and EDR solutions.Demonstrated experience in vulnerability management and implementing security frameworks like NIST and ISO 27001.Familiarity with Essential Eight cybersecurity strategies and the MITRE ATT&CK framework.Experience in international education recruitment or a similar environment is advantageous.Technical SkillsProficiency in system administration using Active Directory.Experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager for software troubleshooting and deployment.Knowledge of security administration using Group Policy Objects (GPOs).Ability to perform hardware troubleshooting and maintenance.Strong foundation in network security and incident response.Data Protection SkillsUnderstanding of GDPR and global data protection regulations.Ability to develop and implement data protection policies and procedures.Other SkillsCommunication: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with the ability to explain complex IT concepts to non-technical staff.Teamwork: Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and across different divisions.Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in investigating and remediating security incidents.Initiative: Proactive approach to identifying opportunities for enhancing security measures and operational efficiency.Certifications (Desirable)Certifications such as
