As a Safety Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our projects are executed in a safe and compliant manner, while working in a rail environment.Responsibilities of the role include:Providing operational support to the project management and construction team and ensure compliance with safety systems and proceduresSupport the Safety Manager with conducting incident and accident investigations that may require litigation, as well as routine safety inspections and monitoring work areasEstablishing positive working relationships with project personnel and raising awareness of safety risksAssisting with the development of safety policies specific to the project and administering safety programs for project employeesMaintaining knowledge of applicable legislative requirements, government regulations, standards, and policiesEvaluating, investigating, and gathering information that will address inadequacies concerning safety mattersReviewing specific high-risk planned works to be undertaken to ensure compliance with the method of workSupport the team with audit processesTo be successful in this key role we are looking for:
Tertiary qualifications in WHS / Safety ManagementExperience within the Construction industry, Rail experience highly desirableExperience monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on performance, compliance, and defectsThe ability to thrive in a dynamic and busy environmentA people person with well-developed communication skillsCurrent drivers licenceFlexibility to occasionally work weekends and/or night shift to support our rail possessions – rostered basis and some eligible shifts receive an additional paymentExperience in conducting and interpreting audit reviews and knowledge of quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls is highly desirable
