Children's Health Queensland is a specialist statewide hospital and health service dedicated to caring for children and young people from across Queensland and northern New South Wales.
The purpose of this role is to provide clinical expertise and consultancy through advanced clinical leadership relevant to the specialty of paediatric surgery.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides direct and indirect care as required and works in collaboration with the in-patient Nurse Unit Manager, Nurse Educator, and wider health care team to support the Paediatric Surgical team's provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice for the specialty paediatric surgery.
This role will have a particular focus on: Providing comprehensive assessment, care planning and support through defined pathways and multidisciplinary engagement for children and young people needing a gastrostomy, inclusive of gastrostomy-jejunostomy; Improving and maintaining the effectiveness and coordination of care for several patients experiencing conditions such as tracheoesophageal fistula, oesophageal atresia and colorectal and pelvic-related conditions.
It will also necessarily contribute to the care of complex neonates and children needing input from several specialties across medicine and surgery.
