Location ProfileDoveton College is a unique, diverse and vibrant learning community located in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne, serving one of the most disadvantaged metropolitan regions of Australia.
Since 2009, Doveton College has partnered with the Colman Foundation to support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, including high migrant and refugee groups.
This model has expanded to 10 sites in Victoria, aiming to change life opportunities for young people by supporting families and communities to access education, health, and wrap-around services.
The College serves approximately 100 children in the Early Learning Centre, over 600 students in Foundation to Year 9, and offers a range of community services including educational and health support.
Selection CriteriaSC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills, and experience in responding to student learning needs.
SC2: Experience in planning and implementing high impact teaching strategies, and evaluating their impact on student learning growth.
SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice.
SC4: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
SC5: Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning.
SC6: Understanding of trauma-informed practice to cater for students with diverse educational needs.
RoleThe primary focus of the classroom teacher is on planning, preparation, and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes.
Teachers are expected to engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve their skills and effectively engage students.
ResponsibilitiesThe role may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students;Contributing to the development and evaluation of curriculum programs;Participating in parent/teacher meetings and school activities;Undertaking other related duties as determined by the Principal.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified in the specified curriculum areas.
