Queensland Pathways State College (QPSC) is a state high school that specializes in supporting young people aged 15 to 18 (minimum Year 10), who have significant barriers to accessing mainstream education, ensuring all students can succeed.
Currently, QPSC has seven campuses: Bracken Ridge, Bundamba, Coorparoo, Goodna, Mount Gravatt, Toowoomba, and Townsville.
Towards the end of 2024, we will be opening two new campuses in Metropolitan North and Mount Isa.
This position will provide support for all campuses across the College.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Head of Special Education Services to join our team.
They will provide leadership and further enhance inclusive practices within the school community to ensure equity and excellence for all students, making a genuine difference to the lives of our students.
About the Role: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead the Special Education Program to provide essential guidance to classroom teachers for students with disabilities.Provide expert advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers, and other staff to develop, plan, and implement effective accommodations for students with disabilities.Coordinate and advise on targeted teaching for students requiring a continuum of support and intervention.Be part of a team that provides support, advice, and advocacy when involved with case management for students needing tailored adjustments to student programming in the context of the special education program.Assist classroom teachers and other school staff in accessing departmental or external specialist services, professional development, and necessary supports.Participate in school decision-making processes and professional development to contribute to school goals, vision, and planning.Implement and coordinate school-wide systems, including data systems, to monitor students with disabilities and maintain the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disabilities.Build and sustain partnerships with parents, other government agencies, and community groups to support students with disabilities.Manage and coordinate the provision of high-quality advice and support to inform curriculum design, inclusive pedagogical practices, and delivery to ensure that all students can access and fully participate in learning alongside their similar-aged peers.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
