West Technology has been exclusively engaged to recruit for a Head of IT to join a multinational engineering business at the forefront of its industry.
The Australian business has built an enviable reputation for having an efficient, practical and high performing IT function, underpinned by a 'best practice' framework.
This business has a passion for innovation and 'outside the box' thinking.
About your new role
The Australian business is the regional head office for the Asia Pacific region, and as the Head of IT, you will lead a team of 4 located in both Sydney and interstate.
Reporting to the local Finance Director with a dotted line to the Global CIO, this position will initially support the local leadership team; however, it is envisaged that once established, the successful applicant will join the executive team.
The technology stack is almost exclusively Microsoft (including the ERP system), with plans to migrate to all modules of D365 in the near future.
The primary tasks aligned to this role include:

Own the P&L for the IT function including the submission of the annual operating budget.
Prepare and present a comprehensive strategy for the IT function.
Act as the subject expert for IT within the business and business partner with key operational stakeholders.
Ownership of the IT environment including all infrastructure, networks and applications.
Ensure adherence to Cyber security policies and procedures.
Oversee the delivery of technical IT projects that are delivered on time & budget.
Manage external supplier relationships and contracts to ensure they are fit for purpose and cost effective.
Review the IT environment and look for opportunities to enhance or modernise IT platforms.

About You
You have proven experience leading an IT function, where you have developed the IT strategy.
You're a financially astute IT professional who has seen you own your own P&L for the IT function.
Are highly effective in the delivery of IT projects and understand popular frameworks such as Agile or Waterfall.
You have delivered a complex IT transformation or modernisation program successfully (applicants who have implemented D365 being held in high regard).
Originally coming from a technical background, you are a 'hands on' style of leader.
Interpersonally, you are an ambitious and passionate IT leader who brings energy and enthusiasm to your role and your stakeholders.
You will come from the heavy industry sector such as engineering, manufacturing, supply chain or similar.
