We are seeking dynamic individuals to join our team as future-thinking Accountants.The roleIn this role, you'll provide essential accounting services, ensuring that Botanic Gardens of Sydney's financial records are accurate, timely, and compliant.
With responsibility for the integrity of the general ledger and statutory financial reporting, you'll coordinate processes across monthly reconciliations, bank account management, and capital work reviews.
Additionally, you'll play a key part in preparing financial data and reports, supporting the organization's strategic goals.Working across a dynamic portfolio, you'll adapt to changing conditions and manage competing priorities while upholding reporting accuracy.
This role is integral to audit readiness and legislative compliance, requiring sound judgment, proactive improvements, and strong collaboration with finance stakeholders.What you will bring to the roleIdeal candidates are proactive problem-solvers with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a keen interest in collaborating with stakeholders to ensure organisational outcomes are achieved.
If you are excited about transforming traditional accounting practices and contributing to a future-ready finance team, we want to hear from youSolid foundation in financial accounting or finance officer roles, bringing experience in accurate financial reporting and Journals, accruals and reconciliation preparationPublic sector experience is a strong plus, with an understanding of compliance obligations under accounting standards, NSW Treasury and other statutory requirementsIdeally familiar with SAP, MyWorkZone, and Prime, or a quick learner ready to develop proficiency in these systems.Excellent attention to detail and time management to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.Proactive in collaborating effectively across the business to ensure financial integrity.Flexible, enthusiastic and able to work collaboratively in a cohesive, supportive and productive team environmentPrior experience with supporting the year-end audit process, liaising with external auditors to provide required documentation and analysisHave passion for continuous process improvements, problem solving and sharing knowledgeWhat is an essential requirement:Relevant tertiary qualification and Australian professional membership of CPA/CA or working towards.About usBotanic Gardens of Sydney, under the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust, is Australia's oldest scientific institution and a custodian of over $1.2 billion in cultural, heritage, and botanical collections.
