Medical Review Officer

Job type: Ongoing - Full Time Organisation: Department of Transport and Planning Occupation: Regulatory Governance and Compliance Reference: 5703 About the Role Under the direction of the Team Leader Medical Review, the Medical Review Officer will review and process Medical Review cases, making fitness to drive decisions in accordance with legislative requirements, guidelines, established policies, business rules, and work instructions.
The Medical Review Officer will manage Medical Review driving test bookings, scheduling appointments within Victoria.
This role will also liaise with and provide advice to internal and external stakeholders and customers in relation to Medical Review cases and enquiries, ensuring the accuracy and privacy of all information kept by the Department is maintained.
The Medical Review Officer will participate in team activities and support change initiatives.
Review and resolve Medical Review cases, making fitness to drive decisions in accordance with legislative requirements, established policies, business rules, and work instructions in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
Understand and accurately assess health information, communication and correspondence received from customers and stakeholders, and provide accurate advice and information in relation to guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Contact customers and schedule on-road driving test appointments within Victoria for colleagues that work remotely and ensure that all driving test outcomes are updated accurately.
Prepare accurate and easy to understand correspondence to customers and stakeholders.
Provide exceptional customer service.
Escalate identified issues to supervisor as appropriate.
Proactively support change and suggest improvements to process and customer service delivery using appropriate methods.
Work collaboratively as an effective team member, participating in team activities and assisting to meet team objectives.
Develop the skills required to undertake all aspects of the Medical Review Officer role.
Ensure privacy of sensitive and personal information is maintained by operating within established policies and business rules, in line with relevant legislation.
In line with Section 31 A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills by seeking solutions through policy or process guidelines, and escalating when necessary with relevant information and ideas.
They possess excellent interpersonal skills, being polite, professional, and considerate of others' moods and perspectives, while expressing their views constructively.

Qualifications and Experience Role Specific Requirements A current and valid driver licence free of convictions for a period of time specified in the relevant legislation.
