Assistant Secretary, People, Strategy and SafetyThe Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is the lead agency for the food, fibre, fisheries and forestry sectors in Australia. We support the entire supply chain, helping to grow Australia's economy and meet consumer demands both at home and in overseas markets. Our 5,500 employees work in a range of environments and locations around Australia from airports and abattoirs to laboratories and foreign countries daily to improve the value, productivity and profitability of the agricultural sector.The People, Property and Security Division works in partnership to deliver strategic and operational workforce services that enable and enhance organisational capability. The division provides stewardship, support and services across integrity and conduct, property, fraud and corruption, security, performance management, rehabilitation management, recruitment, learning and development, inclusion and diversity, workforce planning and analytics, workplace relations, people support, culture and health, safety and wellbeing.The JobAs an Assistant Secretary you will be a member of the senior executive team, contributing to the broader strategic leadership of the organisation. You will work with the business to keep our people healthy and safe, and enable a high performing, capable and future focused workforce. You will lead a diverse team with responsibility for:Providing strategic and operational support on a range of people services across the department including culture, capability and development, diversity, recruitment, change management, work health and safety, and workforce analytics.Ensuring the workforce has the capability and capacity to support the department by being strategic, influential and providing high-quality advice and direction.Collaborating with clients to shape solutions aligned to the department's evolving needs.Driving excellent client service to deliver outcomes.Improving the departments' HR capabilities and implementing new approaches to meet the needs of the evolving talent.Implementing policy, programs, systems and consistent services to address departmental and whole-of-government people priorities.Representing the department at high-level discussions with key stakeholders and external organisations.Providing high quality advice and support to the department's senior executive.Promoting collaboration within the department, with central agencies and across the Commonwealth.Tertiary qualifications (and/or demonstrated equivalent experience) in an HR discipline is highly desirable as is professional certification with the Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI).
