It was established as a Jobs and Skills Council for the health, human services, sport & recreation and early childhood industries to fulfil the requirements of the Jobs & Skills Councils – Strengthening Australia's National Vocational Education and Training System program.

We have an opportunity for a Research Officer to join us on a full-time basis in an ongoing capacity subject to funding (currently funded until mid-2026).
The role may be located anywhere in Australia and will involve travel with overnight stays for organisation meetings, stakeholder meetings, workshops, and industry events.
Position Purpose As a Research Officer at HumanAbility you will contribute to our mission to enhance the vocational education and training system to support workforce development in our sectors.
Your responsibilities will include conducting research, analysing data, and providing insights to support informed decision-making and program development.
Key Accountabilities Supporting the Senior Research Officer and Director of Policy & Research, the Research Officer will:
Research: Assist with identifying and understanding key research opportunitiesCoordinate the design and implementation of research proposalsConduct a range of qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies (e.g., moderating focus groups, monitoring survey quotas)Undertake analysis to inform the development of HumanAbility's workforce plan, workforce development initiatives and annual training development planReporting: Prepare research reports, summaries, and presentations for internal and external audiences that show attention to detail and the ability to write in plain EnglishCommunicate research findings effectively to support decision-makingLiterature Review: Conduct literature reviews to stay informed about industry trends and best practicesIncorporate relevant research findings into project planning and developmentStakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with external partners to gather insights and share research outcomesCollaborate with cross-functional teams on data collection, data analysis and project managementFoster relationships with industry experts, educators, and policymakersQualifications and Experience Honours or Masters degree in a relevant field with a research focus or equivalent experience desirableProven experience in VET, public policy and/or research rolesProficiency in research methodologies and statistical analysis tools (SPSS, Qualtrics, Q)High level problem-solving and analytical skillsWell-developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to produce accurate, easy to read and insightful reports and adviceAbility to work independently and as a collaborative team memberDemonstrated understanding and/or experience in at least one of: the national skills system, the health, human services, sport & recreation or early childhood education, aged care and disability sectors industry sectors or the ability to understand new content quicklyDesirable - Experience in education, adult education and student experience and a background in academia or government/NGO research would be an advantage #J-18808-Ljbffr
