Tax Accountant

Michael Hill is looking for a detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our dedicated Tax Team in our Global Support Centre in Brisbane.
This role will work collaboratively with our wider support centre departments, retail stores and retail management teams with a primary focus on assisting with tax compliance, research, documentation, advice & process improvement requirements across the Michael Hill International Group globally to ensure all tax deadlines are met, tax positions are adhered to and compliant across the business.
In this varied role, the successful applicant will have significant interaction with other teams in the finance department as well as external consultants and Revenue offices across each of the three countries in which Michael Hill operates.
More about the role: Assist with the preparation and timely lodgement of group income tax returnsAssist with the preparation and timely lodgement of GST (or equivalent), FBT (or equivalent) and Non-Resident withholding tax returns in all jurisdictions in which Michael Hill operates.Involvement in process improvements across all areas of direct and indirect taxAssist with audit and risk review related enquiries from state and federal revenue authorities globally.
Prepare relevant supporting information including liaising with external advisors where requiredConduct internal compliance reviews/checksPrepare and maintain tax related balance sheet reconciliationsSupport and coordinate with financial accountants on various initiatives and projectsMaintain professional relationships with all external providersAbout you: Degree in Finance, Business or other relevant disciplineAbility to manage and communicate constantly changing & competing prioritiesAbility to multi-task and work with large amounts of information & dataWork accurately and efficiently in Excel with large volumes of dataDeveloped computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and Microsoft AX DynamicsHighly developed written and oral skillsAbility to interpret and suggest application of taxation law to current business transactionsDemonstrate a high degree of attention to detail and time management with respect to deadlinesIn return we offer: Work for an ASX/NZX listed international companyExposure to international accounting, tax and retail practicesFree onsite parking, state of the art office with modern open plan designOpportunities for future career growth with a company committed to your developmentA collaborative team environmentTake Your Step to Brilliance – Apply Now
