With six dry repair berths and three wet berths, the PME shipyard is Darwin's leading provider in all facets of ship repair, engineering, and maintenance.
PME seeks a reliable and self-motivated Metal Fabricator (Boilermaker / Welder) with an excellent work ethos and a proven work history.
This is a "hands-on" role where you will be focusing on day-to-day workshop tasks and vessel work packages required by PME's fabrication section.
Our preference is that you are trade qualified or at least have the minimum qualification of Certificate 111 Engineering – Fabrication or the equivalent.
The successful candidate must have:
Experience in general steel fabrication, including plate work, pipe work, multi positional welding (MMAW, MIG, TIG) and edge preparation.
The ability to resource, maintain attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
The ability to establish and maintain strong, productive working relationships with PME management and other supervisors.
Familiarity with EHQMS system, work instructions and SWMS.
A strong commitment to quality, health & safety, and environmental requirements.
The ability and knowledge to carry out regular inspections of machinery, tools, and equipment under their direct control to ensure they are kept well maintained and serviceable.
A Driver's license, Forklift license, High Risk Competency, EWP ticket and White Card licenses and accreditation.
Although not absolutely essential, persons who have experience in the marine industry will be considered highly and are encouraged to apply.
