Job Summary / Basic FunctionBay de Noc Community College is a student-focused, multi-campus institution serving the higher education needs of the south-central Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The College is an accredited institution committed to continuous quality improvement.
Bay College takes pride in providing a quality education to transfer and occupational students at two campuses, online, and at other course delivery sites.
Bay de Noc Community College is seeking qualified applicants to teach asynchronous online and/or hybrid in-person/online Criminal Justice courses beginning with the Winter 2025 semester.
Instructors are responsible for establishing and promoting an effective learning environment to maximize student learning.
Minimum QualificationsMasters degree or higher (or 18 graduate level credits) in a criminal justice-related field OR Bachelor's degree in criminal justice-related field with at least 5 years of experience in a criminal justice fieldExperience teaching at the college levelExperience teaching asynchronously onlineCommitment to quality instruction in a learner-centered environment with the goal of consistently improving student successCommitment to the community college mission and philosophyAbility to provide diverse teaching and learning approaches to diverse student populationsDemonstrated skill in effective written and oral communicationsDemonstrated literacy in information technology and computer useCommitment to value, respect, and provide an equitable learning experience in an inclusive, welcoming environment; standing against discrimination or harassment to educate all students regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran or military status, or other protected status.Preferred QualificationsExperience teaching at a community collegeExperience teaching in the Blackboard LMSOnline teaching certificationJob DutiesInstruct Criminal Justice courses in online and/or in-person hybrid/online courses at Bay College.Facilitate student learning through the following activities:Develop course syllabi that share with students the expectations, standards, policies, and learning objectives of the course.Contribute to the development and delivery of assessments of course and program learning outcomes.Recognize and respond to different student learning styles and needs, including disability accommodations.Develop and use supplementary learning materials, resources, and technology.Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.Adhere to the ethical standards of the college, the State of Michigan, the Higher Learning Commission, FERPA and other education regulations.Provide a safe learning environment.Stay abreast of developments in the field of criminal justice work and teaching by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional development opportunities.Communicate with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders in a professional manner through the use of telephone, email, Zoom, mail, and/or face-to-face communication.Work with lab assistants, learning assistants, or student workers as needed.Participate in professional activities such as, but not limited to, curriculum planning, syllabus writing, examination development, textbook selection, program revision, online teaching certification, and outcome assessment.Any other duties as assigned.Contact InformationContact(s) : Beth Berube, Director of Human Resources
