Take on big challenges and grow, through mentorship, collaboration, and empowerment.Thiess is the place to make things happen.About the roleThiess is seeking experienced Drillers Offsider to join the Drill & Blast team to deliver high-quality solutions and results at Pembroke Resource's new project in the Bowen Basin – the Olive Downs Complex.Pembroke Resource's Olive Downs Complex is a greenfield project located 40 kilometres south-east of Moranbah which commenced mining operations in mid-2023.
Thiess has been awarded a five-year contract to deliver full service mining operations, including mine planning, overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul (Autonomous), water management and rehabilitation as well as construction of the mine infrastructure.Working a 7/7 day/night shift roster with the possibility of introducing night shift (additional night rates apply) and reporting through to the Drill Controller and Drill & Blast Supervisor, the key responsibilities in this role will include:Assisting the Driller in the setup, operation, and maintenance of drilling rigs.Preparing and handling drilling tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the drilling site.Conducting regular safety checks and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.Assisting in the collection and recording of geological samples during drilling.Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors, reporting any issues promptly.Managing the transportation and storage of drilling equipment and supplies.Supporting the installation and removal of casing and other structural components and conducting routine maintenance and minor repairs.Hot seating autonomous drills each shift.About youPrevious experience in a similar role within the mining industry is highly regarded.Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour in varying weather conditions.Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures.Excellent teamwork and communication skills.Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening.Excellent behavioural, time management, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.What Thiess can do for youPermanent full-time positions.Thiess' commitment to ongoing training & development.Health & wellbeing rewards program through AIA Vitality.Salary sacrifice options - novated leasing.Genuine Choice Rosters - (Live Local, DIDO & FIFO).Range of corporate discounts including health insurance (Medibank), travel & retail products.Opportunity to learn and develop skills through working and collaborating with a large team of experienced mining professionals.About usThiess works with clients in Australia, Asia and the Americas in the dynamic field of open-cut and underground mining.The pioneering spirit of our founders – the legendary Thiess brothers – is our legacy and inspires our vision to harness the power of people and technology to drive sustainable change.At Thiess, you will have the opportunity to play a part in the global energy transition.
