About Us:Ironbuilt Infrastructure Pty Ltd is a leading construction company, delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the region. We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer with a strong background in procurement within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a solid track record in managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials and equipment. Experience in the commercial management of suppliers and subcontractors is highly desirable, as well as knowledge of the Security of Payments Act (SOPA) process.Position Overview:As a Purchasing Officer, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services for our construction projects. You will manage procurement processes, often involving complex contracts with multiple suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring that all commercial and compliance aspects are handled efficiently. A key responsibility includes assessing and processing claims and procurement against project budgets, ensuring compliance with SOPA.Key Responsibilities:Manage the procurement of materials, equipment, and services for construction projects, ensuring alignment with project budgets.Negotiate and manage commercial contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, focusing on cost, quality, and delivery timelines.Assess, review, and process claims from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring they are compliant with budgets and project financial controls.Ensure compliance with the Security of Payments Act (SOPA), processing payment claims and resolving any related issues promptly.Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors, negotiating favourable terms and resolving disputes.Monitor supplier performance and manage commercial issues, including variations, claims, and contract disputes.Collaborate with project managers to understand project requirements and ensure the availability of required materials within budget constraints.Maintain and update the procurement system, tracking purchase orders, delivery schedules, claims, and supplier payments.Assist in managing inventory levels and developing cost-effective procurement strategies.Address supply chain and budgetary issues proactively to ensure continuity of materials and services for construction projects.Qualifications:Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within the construction industry is essential.Experience in the commercial management of suppliers and subcontractors, including contract negotiation, variations, claims, and dispute resolution, is highly desirable.Strong knowledge of Security of Payments Act (SOPA) and experience processing claims under SOPA.Strong negotiation skills with the ability to establish long-term, beneficial relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.Excellent knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, construction materials, and budget alignment.Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, particularly in handling commercial and financial issues with suppliers.Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and procurement software systems.Experience with construction financial or procurement systems (such as Premier) is highly desirable.How to Apply:If you have the required experience in procurement, commercial management, and SOPA processes, and you're ready to take on a dynamic role in the construction industry, we want to hear from you
