About the opportunity The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne's first dedicated busway.
These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne's east.
Laing O'Rourke is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Symal, Arcadis and WSP.
Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria's toughest traffic noise standards.
The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.
About the role We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer - ITS to join us on the Eastern Freeway Burke to Tram Alliance.
This is your opportunity to contribute to the biggest ever investment in Melbourne's North East.
Key responsibilities Take charge of the onsite delivery of ITS solutions including ITS architecture, VMS Gantry Installations, Lighting and integrating the technical standards and analytics that meet the Projects Needs. Provide project engineering support to the construction teams to facilitate the construction process. Ongoing monitoring and reporting of work progress. Direct interface with the construction crews to collect data on information required for project status, cost reporting and forecasting. Support the site construction crews with developing and communicating work packages. Assist with technical queries. Provide direction and supervision for Site & Project Engineers, as required. About you A degree qualification in Civil or Electrical Engineering with industry experience in roads/tunnels, rail, metro or similar. 'Hands-on' experience with ITS systems (building, configuring, troubleshooting, maintaining, upgrading). Strong knowledge of electrical and ITS systems and assets.
