Lead Electrical Engineer – Mining Equipment Design Location: Perth, Australia
Overview: We are seeking a motivated Lead Electrical Engineer to spearhead the design of mining equipment and coordinate with overseas engineers and drafting personnel.
This is an exciting opportunity to engage in multi-disciplinary engineering, covering product design, manufacturing, and site support.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the engineering design and execution of electrical systems for mining and minerals processing projects, including determining optimal layouts and configurations of circuits, transformers, breakers, transmission lines, and associated equipment to ensure effective and efficient operation.
Specify and select appropriate instrumentation and electrical components to meet project-specific requirements, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and regulatory standards.
Prepare and deliver detailed design outputs, including cable schedules, equipment lists, instrument lists, and diagrams (Single Line, Schematics, Termination), with a focus on precision and reliability.
Oversee the tendering process, evaluate bids, and manage the procurement of critical equipment, maintaining quality and cost-efficiency.
Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and provide leadership in coordinating with overseas design and drafting personnel, ensuring consistency and adherence to standards.
Conduct on-site activities, including system installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning, with occasional travel to remote locations.
Maintain effective communication and build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
Plan and oversee the allocation of resources for sourcing and deploying electrical components, machinery, and appliances, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
Analyze and apply technical documents, blueprints, guidelines, and regulatory frameworks to validate the safe and efficient use of electrical systems and equipment.
Design and manage the creation, installation, and ongoing operation of machines, equipment, and systems that support the generation, transmission, and utilization of electrical energy.
About You:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputable university.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in mining processing or material handling projects.
Experience in a consulting capacity is preferred.
Familiarity with electrical design and drafting software.
Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.
Demonstrated leadership experience and a positive, can-do attitude.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken.
