Position Summary

Whitehaven Coal is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to join our Maintenance and Shutdowns team at our Blackwater operations.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the long-term reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of critical mining equipment and systems.
The successful candidate will play a key role in optimising maintenance strategies, supporting shutdown planning, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
Key Responsibilities

Reliability Improvement :Analyse equipment performance data to identify reliability risks and improvement opportunities.
Develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and root cause analysis (RCA) processes.
Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime and maximize asset utilization.
Shutdown Planning and Execution :Provide technical expertise in planning and executing maintenance shutdowns.
Identify critical path activities and develop risk mitigation strategies to ensure timely project completion.
Conduct post-shutdown reviews to capture learnings and improve future shutdown performance.
Asset Management :Support the implementation and maintenance of the asset management framework.
Develop and optimize preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
Lead condition monitoring efforts.
Drive initiatives aimed at reducing operational costs while maintaining safety and reliability standards.
Provide technical recommendations for equipment modifications and upgrades.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions to build a reliability-focused culture across teams.
Compliance and Reporting :Ensure adherence to all statutory, company, and site-specific safety and environmental regulations.
Prepare and present reliability and maintenance performance reports to stakeholders.

Key Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mining Engineering, or equivalent discipline.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a Reliability Engineering role within the mining, heavy industrial, or resource sectors.
Proven track record of supporting maintenance and shutdown activities.
