We are seeking a dedicated Aviation Safety & Quality Specialist to join our team.
This role focuses on implementing, maintaining, and continually improving processes and systems in safety and quality management within the Aviation and Engineering areas.
Reporting to the Aviation Safety Manager, with a dotted line to the Engineering Quality Manager, you will work closely with aviation personnel and senior executives to drive a robust safety culture and collaborate on safety and quality initiatives.
About youFormal qualifications in Aviation safety and risk managementExtensive knowledge and experience in aircraft operations, air traffic management, aerodrome operations, and aviation maintenance.2+ years of experience in applying safety management principles and practices.Proven ability to interpret and apply aviation and safety legislation and Australian Standards to implement safe work solutions and promote a safety-focused culture.Formal qualifications in incident/accident and hazard investigation techniques.Certified Lead Auditor.About the roleMaintain, review, and evaluate the effectiveness of the Aviation Safety and Quality Management System (SQMS).Liaise with CASA and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) on safety-related issues.Triage aviation hazards and incidents, investigate, and report outcomes.Compile safety data, monitor trends, and advise management on safety matters.Inform the Aviation Safety Manager of significant safety issues.Act as secretariat for the Fatigue Safety Action Group Meetings.Maintain and review policies, procedures, manuals, and records.Provide advice on CASA regulations and general aviation matters.Contribute to the implementation and review of risk management processes and promote the risk management framework.Investigate aviation-related security occurrences as per the Transport Security Plan (TSP).Conduct audits and inspections, reporting results against applicable legislation and standards.Implement and maintain a Safety Promotion and Communication Plan.BenefitsPermanent, full-time roleSalary packaging - up to $15,900 per annum for everyday expenses and up to $2,650 per annum on meals and entertainment expensesNovated Lease optionsHybrid work environment and flexible hours (work from home options available)Jandakot based officeFree parkingAbout UsThe mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia.

Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA.
A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care.

The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra.
Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State.
We work in partnership with government, business and the community, and are proud to work on Country with Aboriginal medical services and many local service providers.
In 2024, the RFDS launched a new five-year strategy 'Above and Beyond', which will mark an important new chapter in the long Flying Doctor history.
The strategy will include a focus on expanding remote health clinics in some of WA's most vulnerable communities, expanding our profit-for-purpose services, strengthening our workforce, harnessing technology and addressing our environmental sustainability.
