The WHS & HR Business Partner will play a dual role, combining strategic HR business partnering with a key focus on Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) across Demant's Australian operations.
This position is integral in partnering the local production business and Audika clinics across Queensland, while also leading the development and implementation of WHS strategies for Demant nationally.
The successful candidate will work closely with business leaders to foster a positive culture with leading levels of engagement, align HR initiatives with organisational goals, and ensure compliance with WHS legislation, maintaining a safe and productive workplace for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:
HR Business Partnering (50%): Act as a trusted HR advisor and partner to business leaders in the production business and Audika clinics (Queensland) , ensuring alignment of HR strategies with business objectives.
Work closely with leadership teams to understand business goals, challenges, and opportunities, providing HR guidance that drives performance, engagement, and talent management.
Work with HR shared services to support employee lifecycle processes, including recruitment and onboarding.
Drive employee engagement initiatives and foster a positive work culture that aligns with Demant's values and objectives.
Act as a trusted advisor on talent management, career development, and succession planning, leveraging the expertise of internal L&D professionals.
Provide coaching and support to managers on employee relations matters, performance management, conflict resolution, and workforce planning.
Partner with leaders to assess talent needs and implement strategies for employee development, retention, and succession.
Support the implementation of learning and development programs that enhance leadership capability and employee skills.
Work to build a diverse, inclusive workforce, ensuring a sense of belonging and progression for all employees across both business units.
Leverage insightful HR metrics and data analysis to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
Workplace Health & Safety (50%): National WHS Strategy: Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) strategy across Demant's Australian operations, ensuring compliance with national WHS legislation and Demant's internal standards.
Work closely with business leaders to integrate WHS initiatives into day-to-day operations and ensure alignment with broader business goals.
WHS Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure Demant's operations comply with all relevant WHS laws, regulations, and industry standards, keeping up to date with changes in legislation.
Make recommendations for regular WHS audits, risk assessments, and workplace inspections to identify hazards and areas for improvement.
Develop and maintain WHS policies and procedures in collaboration with key stakeholders to mitigate workplace risks and enhance safety culture.
Oversee the management of workplace incidents, ensuring proper documentation, investigation, and reporting in compliance with WHS policies and legal requirements.
Collaborate with the People & Culture team to track and report on safety-related metrics, including incident reports, safety audits, and corrective actions.
Awareness & Education: Promote WHS training programs for employees and managers to foster a safety-first culture, ensuring understanding of WHS responsibilities and safe work practices.
With the support of HR Shared Services, ensure that WHS training is up to date, effective, and tailored to the specific needs of the production and retail teams.
Maintain a high level of WHS awareness across the business, ensuring leaders and employees are regularly briefed on safety protocols and best practices.
Wellbeing & Injury Management: Collaborate with HR and other teams to promote employee wellbeing programs, focusing on both physical and mental health in the workplace.
Lead the development of injury management programs, ensuring return-to-work programs are in place and employees are supported through the recovery process.
Work with workers' compensation providers to manage claims and ensure appropriate rehabilitation for injured employees.
Support the worker's compensation renewal processes annually.
Key Requirements:
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in HR business partnering, with a strong background in Workplace Health & Safety management, ideally within a multi-site, dynamic organisation.
Experience in both production and retail environments is highly desirable, especially in understanding the unique challenges of each.
A proven track record of partnering with senior leaders to deliver HR solutions that drive business success.
Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Psychology, WHS, or a related field.
Certification or qualification in Workplace Health & Safety is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and best practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical, business-focused manner.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships with leaders, employees, and external partners.
Solid problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to assess risks and make sound recommendations.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Proven experience in managing workplace incidents and developing safety initiatives that foster a strong safety culture.
Strong understanding of HR practices and policies, with the ability to integrate them effectively with WHS strategies.
