Western is host to the ARC Training Centre for Smart and Sustainable Horticulture (TC - SaSH), which trains higher degree by research (HDR) candidates and early-career researchers (ECRs) to drive the expansion, profitability, and sustainability of Australia's protected horticulture.
The Opportunity Western's Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment is seeking a dynamic and experienced Centre Manager to lead the establishment, governance, and administration of our innovative ARC Training Centre for Smart and Sustainable Horticulture (TC - SaSH).
As the Centre Manager, you will ensure the seamless management of business activities, financial oversight, contract administration, research and training coordination, strategic planning, communications, and outreach.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing the Centre's portfolio of research projects, managing financial commitments, and providing high-level advice to the Centre's Committees.
You will establish and manage key partnerships, ensuring effective internal and external communication among the Centre's project teams.
You will also lead the development and implementation of the Centre's strategic and operational plans, identify opportunities and risks, and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 5 years based at Hawkesbury Campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required.
About You You are a qualified professional with postgraduate qualifications or extensive relevant experience, ideally within a university or research centre environment.
Your proven leadership skills and ability to manage diverse responsibilities make you a strategic thinker who can provide high-level advice and sound judgment.
You excel in strategic planning, financial management, and governance, and have a knack for risk management.
Your exceptional communication skills shine through in your marketing, event management, and outreach activities, while your interpersonal skills help you build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
You have a thorough understanding of research contract management and intellectual property issues, and you are committed to applying work health and safety and equal opportunity principles in all your endeavours.
