About your new role
The Chief Risk and Audit Office branch within the Strategy, People and Performance Department comprises the Risk, Internal Audit, and Cyber Security business units.
The branch strives to be a highly valued and trusted service provider to Management, the Audit & Risk Committee, and Council.
The Internal Audit Unit conducts a wide variety of risk-based assurance and advisory activities as outlined in the annual Internal Audit Plan.
This position assists the Manager Internal Audit to deliver the annual Internal Audit work program by planning and executing contemporary, risk-based internal audit reviews.
Additionally, the Principal Internal Auditor role will provide risk and control advisory services across the broad range of City business operations, processes, and systems.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will:
Plan and execute internal audit engagements across all aspects of the City's operations
Build relationships with key audit stakeholders across all levels of the business to effectively conduct audits and communicate audit findings
Write clear and concise audit reports based on factual findings and practical improvement recommendations
Follow up on the status of open audit actions and verification of audit action completion
Provide advice to management in relation to risks and control improvement opportunities
We're looking for people who have:
Certified Internal Auditor or equivalent knowledge
Bachelor's degree in Business or equivalent knowledge
Bachelor Honours Degree/Certificate/Diploma or equivalent knowledge
Internal Auditing or equivalent knowledge
Ability to use data analysis tools and techniques (i.e.
Microsoft Excel, PowerBi) to develop data-driven insights is highly regarded.
Understanding of risks and control processes for Council operations in key domain areas (i.e.
finance, procurement, assets, WHS) is highly regarded.
Basic understanding of key City systems (i.e.
SAP, Pathway) is preferred.
