Barn Foreperson

Ciaron Maher Racing is seeking highly motivated and capable Barn Foreperson to join our Sydney team. It's a full-time position available immediately. The salary for the advertised position will be above award rates, determined by prior experience and suitability to the role. Relevant practical experience at another training stable or in racing generally, either in Australia or elsewhere in the world, would be advantageous but not essential; consideration will be given to all applicants who have relevant industry experience.
Accommodation is available 350m from the barn, close to Warwick Farm Train Station.
Essential Skills: All applicants must have a minimum of 3 years full-time professional experience in the role, or at least 2 years full-time highly relevant experience. In addition, the following will be required:
Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racingProven ability to manage a team of staffAbility to check horses for injuries and report back to the trainerKnowledge of equine treatments and medicationsKnowledge of racehorse training and gearOral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide informationBasic computer skillsSound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorsesProven as reliable workers, with excellent horsemanship skillsMust hold or be willing to obtain a Racing NSW Forepersons Licence.
