Security Engineer - Drive Incident Response & Security StrategyAbout the Role:We are looking for an experienced Security Engineer with the battle scars to prove it, someone who has been in the trenches dealing with cyber attacks and leading teams through incident response. You'll be a hands-on technical expert with a background in Cloud or Infrastructure, ready to investigate threats, own the security roadmap and make key security decisions for a high-profile Australian organisation.About our client:Our client is a leading Australian financial comparison organisation known for its innovation and high standards. The Infrastructure team plays a key role in maintaining secure, efficient technology ecosystems, supporting the business, customers and partners. The company fosters a collaborative, exploratory environment focused on growth, security and technological excellence.A Day in the Life:Investigate and respond to daily/weekly threats like brand protection, website issues and EDR alertsMonitor and investigate AWS/GCP environments, escalating where neededManage vulnerability reports, patching and follow-up on ticketsLead security roadmap initiatives, ensuring processes are in place for security awareness, fixes and preventionHandle security budgeting, tool rationalisation and resource consolidationImplement Zero Trust tools, SIEM Proof of Concept, penetration testing and handle cyber security insurance renewalWork closely with Helpdesk, DevOps, Cloud and Architecture teams to maintain security across systemsWhat You'll Bring:Experience in security incident response, vulnerability assessments and penetration testingStrong knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), web development and application securityProven ability to own and deliver a security roadmap, driving initiatives such as Zero Trust, SIEM implementation and moreAbility to lead security operations and collaborate with cross-functional teamsProactive, resourceful problem solver, always keeping up with the latest security threatsKey Responsibilities:Investigate and respond to security threatsDevelop and implement security processes and policiesMonitor and investigate alerts in cloud environments (AWS/GCP)Lead the implementation of security projects like Zero Trust and SIEMManage vulnerability assessments, patching, and penetration testingHandle cyber insurance renewals and collaborate with internal teamsRequired Skills & Experience:Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience2+ years in a security engineering role OR 5+ years in cloud/DevOps with cybersecurity experienceExperience with security systems (firewalls, SIEM, vulnerability scanners) and cloud environments (AWS/GCP)Solid understanding of security frameworks and privacy regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST)Strong problem-solving and collaboration skillsWhy Apply?Hybrid working model with flexibility in Either Sydney or BrisbaneJoin a dynamic, problem-solving teamPlay a key role in shaping the company's security strategyCompetitive salary12 month fixed term contract (Full time salary with extension to permanent)If you're passionate about security and ready to lead, apply today
