About the Role The Geoscience Mine Geology (WA Iron Ore) team are seeking a Mine Geologist to join a safety-focused, technically motivated and results-driven team, working in a positive and inclusive environment.
Our team strives to provide targeted, high-quality geological interpretations to meet our stakeholders' needs.
You will be working across our South Flank and Mining Area C operations.
This role will be offered on an initial 12 month maximum term contract and will suit someone looking to develop their experience in a supportive, development-focused team.
Core responsibilities include:
An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
Accurate collection, analysis and interpretation of geological data.
Delivery of best practice grade control and mining geology core routines (Sample Design, Geological Modelling & Reconciliation, Pit Mapping).
Ensures the timely and accurate flow of information from the Geoscience and Mining Geology function into all customer groups.
Perform geological model reconciliations and investigate anomalies.
Support the execution of in and near-pit RC drilling.
Support the development and delivery of continuous improvement (CI) initiatives that drive value for the Mining Geology, Geoscience function and the asset in terms of recurring savings, incremental throughput, safety and/or culture.
About You With a tertiary degree in geoscience, the successful applicant will also have:
Prior experience in a mining geology role (or Resource Definition experience in iron ore).
An ability to collect, process and interpret geological data in a mine (and exploration) setting, including but not limited to geological modelling, reconciliations, grade control practices.
Data analysis, adaptive leadership and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders.
Working knowledge of industry standard mining and geological software and systems including Vulcan.
Minimum of C class manual driver's license.
Experience using 3D (Leapfrog) and 2D (ArcGIS) software, along with data analysis and coding packages such as ioGAS, Spotfire or Python are highly regarded.
