Because when they succeed they make a difference, and when millions of small businesses are making a difference, the world is a more beautiful place.How you'll make an impactAs a Team Lead - Data Engineering in the Marketing Data Science, Analytics & Insights team, you will be responsible for leading some of Xero's brightest data engineers in large and complex data sets, as well as building robust, reusable and optimized data pipelines.Our Data Engineering team helps deliver data and analytics to our customers, who include data scientists, analysts, and product owners within the marketing team. This team provisions data pipelines and solutions that enable Xero to deliver on its exciting data and analytics strategy. This team also develops high-quality data architectures and processes that enable data to be processed and consumed in the way our organization can best leverage it.What you'll doProactive and people-centered leadership fostering an environment where teamwork and collaboration are encouraged and celebrated.Ensure the team delivers on our goals on time while adhering to our quality standards and principles.Prioritize and take responsibility for work requested by your portfolio area and demonstrate high levels of accountability.Help drive continuous improvements to data quality procedures and a consistent approach to how data quality is measured, monitored, and reported.Liaise with architecture, security, product managers, and marketers to ensure all deliveries are supported by the correct architectural implementation.Work on incident management, service requests, enhancements/changes, and audits.What you'll bring with youCritical competenciesStrong people skills with an ability to keep the team motivated towards learning and delivery.Confidence in collecting, collating, and interpreting business requirements in order to produce quality outcomes.Good time management with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and deliver to schedule.Highly motivated and proactive nature, constantly looking at methods for improvement.Solution-focused and has strong attention to detail.Experience working with Business Owners and different stakeholders to gather data requirements and provide solutions.TechnicalCI/CD tools like Teamcity, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Harness, or CircleCI.Infrastructure as code utilities like Terraform and CloudFormation.Docker and Kubernetes.Good knowledge of SQL, Snowflake, dbt, Python, AWS, AWS Serverless (Lambda Functions), SQS, SNS, S3, Glue.Clear and concise oral & written communication including technical documentation.Experienced in orchestration tools (such as Apache Airflow, Prefect).Proficient in the rollout and maintenance of cloud infrastructure.Knowledge of data requirements for ML / AI use cases is beneficial.Why Xero?Offering very generous paid leave to use however you'd like (plus statutory holidays), dedicated paid leave to care for your physical and mental wellbeing as well as an Employee Assistance Program to access mental health care for you and your family, health insurance, life insurance, and income protection, wellbeing and sports programmes, employee resource groups, 26 weeks of paid parental leave for primary caregivers, an Employee Share Plan, beautiful offices, flexible working, career development, and many other benefits that reflect our human value, you'll do the best work of your life at Xero.
