Head of Counselling and Wellbeing
Lead the strategic direction of mental health and wellbeing practitioners across a prestigious school system.
The Organisation
This portfolio of schools, ranging from kindergarten to Year 12, is dedicated to Catholic education and to optimise each student's learning growth.
This opportunity offers the chance to lead the strategic direction of mental health and wellbeing practitioners across 45 schools.
Position Overview
The Head of Counselling and Wellbeing provides strategic leadership for mental health and wellbeing practitioners throughout the school system and is responsible for addressing the mental health and wellbeing needs of students.
This includes ensuring that mental health practitioners receive adequate support, adhere to APRHA standards, and that students are effectively supported in their learning.
Additionally, collaboration with principals and teachers will be important to ensure they have access to the appropriate support to effectively manage risks.
The Head of Counselling and Wellbeing will also be involved in managing, researching, designing, implementing, and evaluating strategic initiatives.
These initiatives aim to harmonise policies and practices related to student wellbeing throughout the school system.
Responsibilities
Fosters a sustainable culture of inclusion and wellbeing by setting priorities aligned with strategic plans.
Develop and lead a student wellbeing framework.
Ensures school services are well-resourced and aligned with requirements and professional standards.
Manage a team to ensure cohesive, collaborative support for students.
Collaborates to design, implement, and evaluate professional learning aligned with evidence-based practices and regulatory frameworks.
About You
Ability to lead a diverse learning or student wellbeing team in a large school or system.
Collaborate across teams to drive innovation and improvement.
Successfully led a team through change, positively impacting organisational culture and student learning.
Experience as a mental health practitioner specialising in children and young people's mental health.
Postgraduate qualifications in Education, Psychology or Social Work and experience in an educational context.
OPTIONAL: Board Registered membership with an appropriate professional association (i.e.
Australian Psychological Society or Australian Association of Social Work).
Valid Working with Children Check.
