About the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences is a diverse faculty renowned for its research excellence, teaching, training, and policy leadership across the breadth of medical, biomedical and health science fields.
Led by the Dean, Professor Jane Gunn, the faculty is Australia's overall leader in clinical, pre-clinical and health sciences, and sits at the heart of a flourishing ecosystem of globally recognised health and biomedical organisations across Victoria.
We are based in Parkville, with a thriving rural health campus in Shepparton.
The faculty comprises six schools and 41 departments, centres and institutes.

The Department's research tackles critical healthcare challenges, aligned with the Faculty's Impact Domains: Prevention and Health Equity, Curing Chronic Disease, and Transforming Healthcare.

About the Role As Professor and Head of Department of Nursing, you will drive innovation in teaching, research, and community engagement, contributing to the faculty's mission to improve global health and wellbeing.
Reporting to the Head of the Melbourne School of Health Sciences, you will lead the Department to further its strategic priorities, ensuring it remains at the cutting edge of nursing education and research.
Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership to foster excellence in research, teaching, and community engagement.
Drive curriculum renewal and oversee program accreditation to meet evolving healthcare needs.
Build and sustain national and international research collaborations.
Strengthen partnerships with clinical, professional, and industry stakeholders.
Mentor and develop academic and professional staff to achieve their potential.
Promote an inclusive and collegial departmental culture aligned with University values.
About You To excel in this role, you will possess: A PhD in Nursing or a related field, along with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
