Job DescriptionKEY OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESFinancial:Ensure the effective financial management of the engineering department by assisting the Director of Engineering in setting maintenance budgets, capital works programs, and engineering plans, and ensuring that performance against them is regularly monitored and reviewed. Responsible for the general cost control aspects of maintenance, the preparation of departmental cost budgets, and their implementation and submission to management.Control of Capital Project Planning, in liaison with management, to ensure capital funding is effectively allocated and budgeted in accordance with company directives and philosophy.Operational:To ensure each section of Engineering is managed effectively, resulting in maximizing productivity and quality of work.To assist the Director of Engineering on all aspects of engineering, environmental controls, and the operational efficiency of the property.To ensure adherence to all statutory regulations and fire codes by regularly reviewing policies and safety procedures. Ensure that any tests and inspections required on plant by statutory authorities are carried out as and when required and that all records and documentation associated with such tests and surveys are correctly kept and/or displayed. Ensure that the hotel fulfills all compliance requirements.Ensure the effective operation of all mechanical and electrical systems and equipment by implementing and managing a preventative maintenance program. Closely monitor the condition of the physical property and equipment by conducting continual inspections of the building. Ensure that preventative maintenance schedules are in operation and regularly upgraded.Plans and implements a preventive maintenance program to achieve "zero" defects for all equipment in the hotel.Ensure that plant and equipment are correctly operated to suit the needs of the hotel.Coordinates and assists management of the hotel on internal campaigns and activities of the energy conservation program.Coordinates and participates in the environmental program/activities as prescribed by the environmental committee.Business Plan / Analysis:Contribute to the hotel's profitability by ensuring the effective management of the buildings' environmental controls and energy conservation systems. Evaluate, control, and record energy usage and implement and upgrade energy conservation systems.Ensure the cost-effectiveness and technical efficiency of all services performed by outside contracts by close supervision. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with contracts, leases, service agreements, and warranties.Team Management:Ensure a technically competent engineering staff by selecting, training, and developing a motivated, well-qualified maintenance team. Carry out regular work sampling studies within the department and evaluate the performance and productivity of personnel.Provide training for all department staff to ensure efficient operation, proper maintenance and repair of equipment, as well as good morale.Prepare a monthly training schedule for the department as per the needs of staff members and monitor their progress.Acquire and implement multi-skilling in the engineering staff.Notify the Director of Engineering of any breach of the hotel's employee rules and regulations.Work with Human Resources on manpower planning and management needs.General Duty:Maintain good working relations with fellow colleagues and management.Provide other duties and services as assigned by the Director of Engineering.Show quick response in handling emergency situations.Have complete knowledge of facilities available in-house.Be thorough on fire and safety procedures.Adhere to hygiene standards.Follow environmental issues.Ensure that personal grooming is adhered to as per standards.Occupational Health and Safety, Interact, Planet-21:Demonstrate awareness of Interact policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within guidelines in your departments.All employees to safeguard their health and safety, and the health and safety of others, in the workplace.Engage our Guests in a sustainable experience.Co-innovate with our partners to open up new horizons.Work hand-in-hand with local communities for a positive impact.Move towards carbon-neutral buildings.Strive for zero food waste & healthy, sustainable food.Act as an inclusive company for our people.Engage our Guests in a sustainable experience.
